The story of the 47 Ronin is as follows: wi dnr Early 18th century there was a certain Lord Asano who was a dispute with the rival Lord Kira condemned by the local Shogun to Seppuku (suicide). After the death of his Asano Samurai Ronin (masterless samurai) were. The Ronin were, however, that their master was treated unfairly because Kira had lured him into a trap and was himself punished. Conviction Led by Ronin Oishi decided to take revenge wi dnr and restore the honor of their former master, even though it would cost them their own lives.
That's about briefly what the true story from Japan, not what we dished up in the film. Agreed, the characters Asano, Kira and Oishi passing in lead roles, but the half-breed Westerner (Keanu Reeves) with magical powers, witches and monsters are all sprung wi dnr from the minds of the people in Hollywood. As such we have no problem with some imagination as long as the story but benefits and that is not the case here ...
The film lasts two hours but feels constant error because the rate goes up and down without good management or clarify why they stopped at one time and at another than not. Action scenes where clearly much money was pumped into actually doing little significance to the story and seem to add little in terms of tension. You also have one Keanu Reeves which again acts as if he is a piece of cardboard, dialogues are weird or rarely wi dnr compound sentences, and a lot of actors who more funny than frightening. Happen wi dnr because of the feckless English That one there once again to weave a romantic side was to be expected, but this adds little or nothing to the film as a whole.
All in all, 47 Ronin a film that had a lot of potential but which does not at any time. Had the makers might have done better wi dnr to tightly follow wi dnr the original story instead wi dnr of all kinds of supernatural nonsense to throw, or possibly wi dnr completely overboard to throw the Japanese setting and, like "The Magnificent Seven" the story in a different context to take place. What we get, however, now presented is neither fish nor fowl that makes no sense and does little interesting wi dnr outside some cool special effects.
Hollywood has been trying to get a typical Japanese story sold in the West by all kinds of fantasy and supernatural phenomena adding wi dnr to and also another Keanu Reeves as "star" slide forward into the bargain. So serious error, because now it was not loyal 47 Ronin to his roots and we get the result wi dnr is a slow film that clearly cost a lot of money but it has seen little late. Japanese vechtfilms from the 80s at the time were more fun to watch than the Hollywood blockbuster and that says a lot.
Where you can you can have on the quality of the film many comments that is definitely not the technical department. The picture just looks stunning with enormous detail, natural and vibrant colors, perfect contrast, deep and dark black levels, and special effects that play nicely wi dnr into the overall picture without appearing wi dnr at any moment "fake".
The sound is also very good with lots of use of all channels and the subwoofer. You are almost constantly surrounded by background sounds and music while the subwoofer provides the necessary wi dnr bass and dialogues are nicely placed where needed. Universal delivers a great job again!
After four deleted scenes we can enjoy "Re-Forging the Legend", a thick six-minute feature that the original story in which this film is based unfolds. In addition, there is also explained by the cast & crew how they fantasy added to the story and how they tried to make everything feel great about by using large-scale sets and design. Tip: Do not watch before you've seen the movie!
In Keanu & Kai (4 minutes), we get to see how perfectionist Keanu Reeves his roles recording, even though it is a fictional character he has to portray, and "Steel Fury: The Fights of '47 Ronin '' gives us more information about some of the stunts that pass in the film and we meet even the actor Reeves almost decapitated.
