Eleonore Reuss-Köstritz was 47 years old when she married February 28, 1908 in Cobourg King Ferdina

Eleonore Princess Caroline Gasparine, Louise de Reuss-Köstritz, born August 22, 1860 at Trebschen (today located in Poland). She is the second child of Prince Heinrich IV Reuss-Köstritz and Princess Luise Reuss-Greitz. She has an older brother who became Prince Heinrich Reuss-Köstritz Heinrich XXIV, born in 1855 and younger sister Elisabeth born in Vienna in 1865, which has been heavily involved in the Red Cross.
Princess Eleonore door in the first names of Gasparine tribute to its French origins. Indeed, in his veins run a quarter French blood since his maternal grandmother Princess Reuss-Greiz is a result of the branch of Rohan Rochefort, great-great-daughter of Marshal Soubise. The princess is high in a family of music lovers. His father was an excellent fisherie pianist and organist while his brother fisherie Prince fisherie Henry XXIV is music composer.
Her mother died when the Princess Luise Princess Eleonore only 15 years old. In 1884, still single, fisherie she attended the wedding of his brother, the future Prince Heinrich XXIV Reuss-Köstritz with Princess Elizabeth Reuss-Köstritz, prince of the girl Heinrich Reuss-Köstritz LXXIV and Eleonore Countess of Stolberg-Wernigerode.
It is through Princess Marie of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Grand Duchess of Russia as wedding plans for the Princess Eleonore emerge. Prince Ferdinand of Saxe-Coburg is a prince of Bulgaria since 1887. In 1908, he was proclaimed king (tsar) of Bulgaria. He is a widower since 1899 the Princess Marie Louise of Bourbon-Parma, who gave him four children: Boris, Kyrill, Eudoxia and Nadezhda. King Ferdinand fisherie wants to remarry by protocol for a queen at his side and a second mother to her children. It seems clear from the start that this union will only be a union representation fisherie without any emotional involvement.
Eleonore Reuss-Köstritz was 47 years old when she married February 28, 1908 in Cobourg King Ferdinand of Bulgaria (46), a widower for nine years in a Catholic ceremony. A marriage according to the Protestant rite is celebrated on March 1 at the Castle fisherie of Osterstein.
Married spend their honeymoon in Romania at the invitation of the sovereign. Queen Eleanor invests immediately in his new role as sovereign and "mother." Never having had children, she is fully dedicated to the children of her husband, who are then aged 14, 12, 10 and 9 years old. It seems to have played his role to perfection especially fisherie for Eudoxia and Nadezhda princesses who did not know their mother Princess Marie Louise of Bourbon-Parma.
When World War I broke out, Queen Eleanor is dedicated to the wounded soldiers, visiting hospitals and to providing care. His sincere commitment is appreciated at the time by the Bulgarian population. Frail, she died in Euxinograd September 12, 1917.
Another queen that I did not know ... but it seems that, according to the commentary, I am not the only one! ;)! A person's face ungracious "casée on late to be useful," but that seems to have been able to be loved by her daughters-in (not so simple ...) and to devote himself to his people! I find it endearing.

I share your opinion Colette.
Thank you for this portrait. Still a queen with "a funny little crown" at the top of the head. A photograph that will entertain my little fisherie son who had many "liked" Queen Victoria because of its small crown! Futile but certainly a good memory for grandmother that I am!

At the time, all the women in almost touets fisherie social strata had this type of hairstyle. Volume around the head, flattened on top, and small chabichou posed as shit over it. It was cute and quite flattering. But how they managed to keep the same building? Does anyone has the recipe? I tried to see, but with my drumsticks ... .patatras!
This story is very well known but I have always wondered why she was not married fisherie n is 47 ?? a bad party? not to my knowledge very ugly ...? no more no less .. that another little taste for men ???
