Seaweed is one of three leading commodity PIJAR (cattle, corn and seaweed) on a groundbreaking program Compete NTB (West Nusa Faithful and Competitive). This breakthrough program is highly relevant to the program are the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Fishery Industrialization Industrialization especially Seaweed. Thus, the program can be used as a very powerful marine biome program umbrella to shelter and support the success of the program PIJAR in NTB. It is very encouraging regarding the synergy program when the central and the regional policy reorientation program PIJAR current and future more focused on product processing industry, because it is the right choice in order to increase the added value and competitiveness marine biome of leading commodity seaweed in creating added value in order to increase the income and welfare of farmers. Seaweed is one of the major national commodities besides prawns, milkfish, tilapia, marine biome carp, and catfish with the national production reached 3,399,436 tons in 2010. Today most of the exported as raw material, whereas when touched with technology by implementing just one stage in the processing technology will add value large enough, for example seaweed processing into flour. The utilization of seaweed processing industry reached 50% of the installed capacity, thus still provide a significant opportunity for the development of the processing industry. The reduced demand for raw materials marine biome because of the crisis in Europe and began to develop seaweed farming in some countries such as Africa (Tanzania). For that, it needs a breakthrough program to keep the continuity of production and increase seaweed production and quality to meet the required industry standards. Seaweed development program will start from the main center for the cultivation of seaweed, which is in South Sulawesi and West Nusa Tenggara. Problems encountered in the development marine biome of industrialization seaweed is the absence of spatial structure for seaweed cultivation, the limited number of nurseries and seed quality marine biome seaweed and is available throughout the year, the lack of raw materials that meet industry standard processing, Indonesian seaweed products are marketed mostly in the form of raw materials (dried seaweed), warehouse / depot seaweed is not reasonably available, the lack of SNI on seaweed-derived products, the cost of waste treatment tinggidan marine biome no buffer institutions. The purpose of the development of industrialization seaweed is to improve the productivity marine biome and quality of seaweed cultivation, marine biome increase the income of farmers, processors and marketers of seaweed, increase value-added marine biome commodities through processing and diversification of seaweed-based products, revitalize the aquaculture industry, processing and marketing of micro, marine biome small and medium. Potential and development opportunities marine biome industrialization is nationally seaweed seaweed production in 2010 reached 3,915,016 tons and rose an average of 34, 21% from 2005, the highest increase compared to other commodities. South Sulawesi, is the largest producer of seaweed which is 1,245,771 tons in 2010, or 36.64% of the total national production. Seaweed production in South Sulawesi rose steadily from 2007, amounting to 630 741 tonnes to 1,245,771 tonnes marine biome with an average rise 27.71. While seaweed production marine biome in NTB (Sumbawa) rose steadily from 2007 which amounted to 75 509 tonnes to 162 411 tonnes with an average marine biome increase 31.80%. Similarly, the potential of seaweed farming marine biome in North Minahasa regency and Parigi Moutong with a production of 67 266 tons and tons dan11.938 have a potential area for development. Potential development area in South Sulawesi sea umpur which amounted to 13,201 ha, 65,426 ha in Central Sulawesi, North Sulawesi of 3,598 hectares, while the West Nusa amounted to 45 330 ha. Target seaweed cultivation in 2012 without the support of the input seeds is a land with vast production: 12,630 ha in 5 districts, 4 provinces: South Sulawesi (Takalar and Jeneponto), North Sulawesi (Minahasa Utara), Central Sulawesi (Parigi marine biome Moutong) and Nusa Tenggara West (Sumbawa). Target production: production volume marine biome of 442 047 tonnes with a production marine biome value of Rp. 309.43 billion, needs and production of quality seeds seeds seeds 75 779 tons with a value of Rp 189.44 marine biome billion and employment for 53 527 people, consisting of 303 118 people marine biome and nurseries magnification 30 311 people.
