The atlas is based on recordings made at the annual illinois fishing license joint Norwegian-Russian ecosystem survey in the Barents Sea in the period from 2004 to 2009. This unique atlas is created in collaboration between the University Museum of Bergen, Institute of Marine Research and the Russian Research Institute PINRO. From the University Museum illinois fishing license is the first and foremost Ingvar Byrkjedalsgryta and Gunnar Langhelle who have participated in this pioneering work.
The Barents Sea is one of the world's large marine ecosystems, with the largest populations of cod and also nursery area for the large trunk Norwegian spring-spawning herring. Species diversity in the Barents Sea is also great, although the number is dominated by the large fish stocks.
Work on fish atlas originally started with a list of 255 species, but after a cleanup of name confusion and other uncertainties, the list could be reduced to about 200 species. Although the atlas does not include all these species, there is now a quality-assured and systematic overview of the diversity of species in the Barents Sea.
The atlas has become a very useful tool for governments, managers, researchers and other interested parties who wish to get an overview of life in this diverse ecosystem in the north. The atlas published illinois fishing license by the Institute illinois fishing license of Marine Research in the series: IMR / PINRO Joint Report Series 1-2011. ISSN 1502-8828.
